Century II Gallery
Century II is an iconic round building that has been part of our landscape for over 50 years. It was built to commemorate the 100th centennial anniversary of Wichita's incorporation in 1870 and to express aspirations for the next 100 years. The public came up with the name "Century II" to represent the next 100 years of Wichita's future.
Century II's modern architectural style was influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, with the design elements of the Kansas prairie. Architects Roy Varenhorst and John Hickman were students of Taliesin West, a school for apprentice architects that the Wrights built in the desert near Scottsdale, Arizona.
The attractive, blue-domed building is recognized by everyone as they fly into Wichita Eisenhower Airport.
